Restylane
Restylane is made of Hyaluronic acid, another ground substance in the skin. The acid is cross-linked so that when it is placed in the skin it will have a longer lasting result between 6 months to a year.
While Restylane will last longer than collagen, some patients have reported intermittent lip swelling while the Restylane is in place. It is not currently FDA approved for use in the lip but has been approved for other uses on the face such as nasolabial lines and wrinkles.
Most patients are very pleased with the longevity of the wrinkle correction when compared to collagen. In fact, Restylane is used much more frequently in Dr. Bull's office than collagen because of the increased length of wrinkle reduction.
