How Painful is Liposuction?

Liposuction isn’t painful, as for the most part, you’ll be under general anesthesia and unaware of what’s going on during your surgery. In some cases, your plastic surgeon may use local anesthesia to help make you feel more comfortable; this is usually done if you’re having liposuction performed underneath your chin or around your armpits.

After liposuction surgery, however, you may feel some pain and soreness upon waking up. This pain and discomfort may last for a couple of days before fading away.

How Long Does It Take to Recover from Lipo?

Liposuction recovery can vary from patient to patient, but it usually takes about two to three weeks to feel like you’re back to normal again. We typically recommend that patients take a few days off from work, as this is when you’ll feel most groggy and sore after your surgery.

You’ll be able to resume normal activities about two to three weeks after your recovery.
