What are the Differences Between SmartLipo and Cellulaze?

Many patients feel overwhelmed when they first begin to consider the idea of having a cosmetic treatment carried out. In addition to basic lifts and injections, patients can now undergo surgeries that involve the use of advanced lasers to promote better results and quicker recovery times.

Two of the most popular laser procedures are SmartLipo and Cellulaze. While these options do have a few similarities, they are not identical.

Fat and Cellulite

It often feels as if fat and cellulite go hand in hand, but that is not always the case. Fat can result in the development of visible cellulite, but patients at almost any weight can experience this cosmetic issue. The term cellulite is used to describe the “dimples” that take place just underneath one’s skin. This generally occurs around the hips and buttocks, but it can take place practically anywhere on the body.

Cellulite is the result of fat pockets pushing between strands of connective tissue. The connective tissue holds the skin down to produce unusual folds and curves. Cellulite can be treated by addressing either the pockets of fat or the connective tissue itself.

SmartLipo

SmartLipo is a revolutionary new form of liposuction that utilizes laser energy to melt away fat. A local anesthetic is used. What sets SmartLipo apart from other liposuction procedures is the fact that a laser is used to first break apart the fat cells before they are removed.

This technique provides patients with a variety of benefits including a quicker recovery time. The surgery takes less time to carry out, and the laser will quickly begin to cauterize the vessels to prevent excess bruising and swelling.

Cellulaze

Instead of just removing excess fat, Cellulaze is specifically designed for patients that would like to reduce the visibility of their cellulite. This treatment is almost always carried out with a local anesthetic, and this means that most patients can return to their regular activities within a short time.

Much like SmartLipo, the practitioner will use a special laser to break apart soft tissue just under the skin. Instead of targeting the fat, however, the connective tissue that is pulling the skin down and creating dimples is affected.
