3 Main Types of Liposuction Surgery
1. Traditional Liposuction Surgery.
If the word “liposuction” makes you think of manual fat removal with a cannula, then you’re picturing traditional liposuction surgery. This popular procedure (in fact, it’s the second most popular cosmetic surgery in the United States) is an ideal solution for candidates who have stubborn fat tissue that won’t respond to typical diet and exercise efforts.
During liposuction surgery, your plastic surgeon may use a small cannula to manually break up fat tissue within the targeted treatment area. Once the fat is broken up, it’s removed through the cannula, leaving behind a more contoured body area.

2. Vaser Liposculpture.
Vaser Liposculpture follows a similar process as with traditional liposuction surgery. However, instead of the plastic surgeon using manual force to break up fat tissue, Vaser Liposculpture uses ultrasound energy to liquefy the fat. This ultrasound energy is delivered via the cannula tip right to the fat tissue, making it a precise way to target the treatment area.
Vaser Liposculpture creates less bleeding and bruising, meaning patients can recover faster from their liposuction procedure.
3. SmartLipo.
SmartLipo uses laser heat energy to break up and liquefy fat tissue at the targeted treatment site. Like with Vaser Liposculpture, the goal of SmartLipo is to help remove stubborn fat tissue without creating the kind of bleeding, swelling, and bruising that can happen with manual fat tissue removal.
SmartLipo is a good option for you if you’re within 10 to 20 pounds of your ideal body weight.
